Benders Sverige AB, Sweden’s leading manufacturer of concrete products for roofing, landscaping and pinned kerbing (Spikma), has acquired Floda Cement in Floda.

Benders’ train-based logistics solution won the day and took home the 2010 DB Schenker Logistics Award.

Last year, Alfa Laval beat off strong competition from Clas Ohlson and Envac to take the DB Schenker Logistics Award. This year, the contest is between Benders’ train-based logistics solution, Tomoku Hus, whose efficient transport makes it possible for the company to compete in Japan, and tretti.se, which has successfully established a web-based white goods retail operation offering same day delivery in Stockholm. The winner will be revealed at Logistik & Transport in Gothenburg on the 4^th of May.

Benders Sverige AB, one of Sweden’s largest producers of roof tiles, paving stones and kerb stones has been investing in the environment for many years. We were one of the first factories in Europe to receive environmental certification for our production. Our investment is now expanding into transport. To reduce the environmental impact of freight carriage, SEK 50 million is being invested in railway logistics.

The official opening of Benders Baltic Nord OÜ in Pärnu, Estonia, has taken place. Managed by Keiju Kuusik, the company’s site has offices, a 500 square metre storage hall and a storage park of 10,000 square metres.

Benders Sverige AB is continuing its environmental initiatives by investing in railway wagons. Eighteen wagons have been bought. The goal is to increase environment-friendly transport and thereby reduce carbon oxide emissions.
