To facilitate handling and use of our infrastructure products, we have developed a number of aids that further contribute to good results. Our manual driver and generator cart are just two examples of these aids.
Benders’ pinned kerbing is most easily laid using our specially developed laying dolly. Besides doing away with heavy lifting, this also makes it easy to position the kerbing elements and then adjust them to give an attractive, straight line. The laying dolly works by gripping the end of the element while this is on the pallet. Held at one end, the element is then wheeled into position and easily released via the handle.
When the kerbing has been laid and any adjustments made, it is time to pin it securely to the substrate. If a short stretch of kerbing or a Spikma speed cushion has been laid, our manual driver is often sufficient. It is designed to prevent the kerbing being hammered to pieces. When the pin has been driven fully home, the hammer mechanism locks in the deactivated position. The driver also has a shock-absorbing rubber handle.
For laying longer stretches, we recommend the use of a powered chipping hammer (pin gun) in combination with our pin adapter. This too has rubber pads for shock absorption and is designed to prevent kerbing being hammered to pieces. In this case, a rubber bushing comes into play when the pin is driven fully home. The pin adapter has a grooved guide sleeve that makes it easy to strike the pin correctly.
To further facilitate the pinning of long stretches, we have also developed a generator cart that is equipped with an electric power plant and a pin gun. This solution is highly manoeuvrable and means long extension cables are unnecessary. Additionally, we even supply separate pin adapters suitable for many of the market’s chipping hammers. Striking pins, spare parts for pin adapters, extra pins and plugs are also available.
For use with some of our other products such as, for example, cycle/footpath kerbing or centre kerbing, we have developed a special scissor grab that facilitates lifting. These scissor grabs grip the sides of the kerb stone (held in the centred mount) throughout the lift. Positioning is then easy.
We also have useful, simple aids for our roundabout elements and bus stop kerbing. For the first of these, we have CE marked lifting tongs that work in the same way as the scissor grabs, but can handle greater weights. For the second, we have an in-house developed, CE marked, lifting chain that facilitates handling. Our bus stop kerbing has precast holes on its long sides. The chain is fastened here and the kerbing is then easily lifted into position.
If you are laying L-retaining elements or, perhaps, T-retaining elements, we have, of course, solutions for this too. All Benders’ L and T-retaining elements have cast-in, strategically located, socket anchors. These ensure even weight distribution and the easiest possible handling. This latter requires a “universal lift” to which a lifting strop or chain can be attached. Hooking this to the socket anchor, the retaining element can now be simply and securely lifted and put into position.
