Instructions
Step 1) Measure out your area (approx. 1,800 x 1,015 mm) and excavate around 200 mm. Half the height of the first course of Labyrint Maxi tumbled stone should be below ground.
Step 2) Lay the fabric sheeting at the bottom of the excavated hole and fold it over slightly at the edge. This cloth prevents underlying material mixing with the base course.
Step 3) Fill with an approximately 100 mm thick base course and compact well with, for example, a hand tamper. It is a good idea to slightly moisten the surface. This makes it easier to achieve a dead, flat surface that will not subside. Next, lay a 20 – 30 mm thick layer of stone dust. Use a hand tamper to compact this well too. To achieve an even finish, you should use a rail or a board to scrape down the surface.
Step 4) Lay the first course of Labyrint Maxi tumbled.
Ensure that half the height of the first course is below ground. Use a spirit level and a rubber mallet to ensure the sides of the planting box are even and straight. Continue with the next course of Labyrint Maxi tumbled and ensure that the stones are offset in relation to those in the first course (see figure above). The stones in the second course are to be securely glued. Use the spirit level to occasionally check that the stones are perpendicular.
Step 5) Continue with the third course of Labyrint Maxi tumbled. The stones in this course are also to be offset in relation to the previous course and securely glued. When you have laid three courses, cover the inside of the planting box (bottom and walls) with fabric sheeting. This prevents the potting soil escaping between the stones. If you want a bigger planting box or one higher than three courses, you will need more materials. We have calculated 14 Labyrint Maxi tumbled stones per course.
Step 6) It is now time to fill the planting box with potting soil, decorative stone and the desired plants (beautiful flowers, fresh herbs, succulent berries, etc.).
We wish you every success!
